QUALITY
We work with hard metals. But we’re even harder on ourselves than we are on the materials we work with
Thanks to its specialised knowledge, capabilities and trustworthiness, Mitak’s parts are seldom found wanting by its customers. The quality team at Mitak provides the most stringent level of oversight to ensure that this standard is maintained. More than 40 full-time quality control staff members are responsible for in-process and final product inspection. They work hard to maintain Mitak’s status as an ISO: 9001:2015 certified company – a status it has held since 2000.
This team utilises the best available electronic and manual equipment to inspect the hardness, dimensional accuracy and casting integrity of in-process and finished components. Mitak has several FARO arms for digital measurement as well as laser scanning capabilities. Custom-built steel gauges are the preferred method of checking high run castings. These are fabricated in Mitak’s own in-house boilershop, which also has full CNC capability.
Mitak has advanced spectrographic analysis equipment to check each heat and to ensure the compositional accuracy of alloys.
Further analysis that is done upon request includes dye-pen, ultrasonic, X-ray and destructive testing.
The quality system at Mitak is managed in an entirely electronic system that records everything from manufacturing drawings to final inspection instructions, and from quality certification through to internal NCRs and concessions. This system empowers all staff to have access to critical quality information but also ensures maximum control over data – which is important to protect its dissemination and its accuracy.
Heat treatment is carried out under controlled conditions using PLC, ensuring consistent hardness and mechanical properties.
Mitak’s quality control system pays close attention to on-time delivery. This is made possible by top planning software as well as close management by the expediting department. The team effectively schedules ongoing production and monitors output, to ensure that the estimated delivery dates are achieved.
Mitak’s quality controls mean outstanding service to export customers. A full-time export administrator handles all aspects of the packing, shipping and forwarding of containers to overseas destinations. Shipments can be done in full container-loads or by groupage. Airfreight shipment is done upon request.
